With oil field accidents especially, a lot of the injuries deal with heights or equipment giving way. It is very important to hire a lawyer, because the companies push injured workers toward workers’ comp. In every area I have done these in, there is some hospital or little quick-care unit that is basically paid for by the oil companies. They will go in and say nothing is wrong with you, you can go back to work, be back tomorrow.
But when the person cannot work, they fire them — and then they rely on that medical clinic saying the worker was cleared to return. I see it all the time. There is no possible way a clinic doctor who is not a spine specialist can say that. But they are not worried about it, because the more people they send back to work, the more people these oil field companies send in when they have injuries.
